Woma Pythons typically reach 1.5–2.3 meters (5–7.5 feet) in length, with some exceptional individuals growing slightly larger. They have a smooth, glossy body patterned with alternating bands of golden brown, tan, and dark chocolate, giving them excellent camouflage in sandy and rocky landscapes. Unlike most pythons, they have no heat-sensing pits along their lips, making them one of only two python species in the genus Aspidites.
These snakes are primarily terrestrial and nocturnal, spending much of the day sheltering in burrows, beneath logs, or among rocks before becoming active at dusk to hunt. In the wild, they feed on small mammals, birds, and reptiles, and are known for their ability to hunt other snakes, including venomous species.
