Transporting rare live animals and lyophilized venoms requires extreme precision, strict adherence to international law, and specialized logistics networks. At Teg Reptiles, we handle all aspects of permitting and transport to ensure your specimen arrives safely and legally.
Important Notice Regarding Pricing
Because shipping costs vary wildly based on the destination country, required permits, and the specific needs of the species, shipping is never included in the base catalog price. Final logistics costs will be calculated and invoiced after you submit your Order Enquiry.
1. Live Animal Logistics (Domestic)
For shipments within our immediate jurisdiction, we utilize specialized live-animal couriers.
- Temperature Control: All live shipments are packed in insulated boxes with phase-change materials (heat packs or cryo-packs) calibrated to the exact needs of the species and the current weather conditions.
- Overnight Delivery: Animals are shipped strictly via priority overnight services. We only ship on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays to prevent weekend transit delays.
- Hub Routing: Whenever possible, we require animals to be held at the courier's destination hub for pickup. This prevents the animal from spending hours on a delivery truck in fluctuating temperatures.
2. International Live Exports (CITES)
We are fully licensed to export to nearly any country worldwide, provided the species is legally permitted in your jurisdiction.
- CITES Permitting: For species listed under CITES Appendices, we will apply for the necessary export permits. Please note that CITES permit approval can take anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks depending on the governing wildlife authority.
- Air Freight: International orders are shipped via specialized live-cargo air freight. A customs broker will be required on your end to clear the shipment upon arrival.
3. Venom Shipping & Cold Chain
Lyophilized (freeze-dried) venoms are highly stable, but still require specialized handling to maintain peak peptide integrity and comply with biohazard regulations.
- Packaging: Venoms are securely sealed in scientific-grade vials, secondary containment vessels, and clearly labeled in accordance with IATA (International Air Transport Association) dangerous goods regulations.
- Cold Chain Logistics: Depending on the specific toxicity and stability profile of the venom, shipments may be sent via standard priority or specialized dry-ice logistics.
- Documentation: All venom shipments include comprehensive Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Certificates of Origin, and detailed purity analyses.
4. Live Arrival Guarantee
We take every precaution to ensure the safe arrival of live specimens. We offer a 100% Live Arrival Guarantee under the following strict conditions:
- The package must be received and signed for on the first delivery attempt, or picked up from the designated courier hub within 2 hours of arrival.
- Someone must be present to receive the package. If a package is left outside or delayed due to the recipient's absence, the guarantee is void.
- In the highly unlikely event of a DOA (Dead on Arrival), we must be notified with clear photographic and video evidence within one (1) hour of the recorded delivery time.
5. Weather Delays
The health of the animal is paramount. Teg Reptiles reserves the absolute right to delay shipping if extreme weather (excessive heat, freezing temperatures, or severe storms) poses a risk at the origin, transit hubs, or destination. We will communicate with you directly to reschedule for the next safe shipping window.
